Expert May Have Lied About a Decade Years’ Worth of DWI Cases

September 7, 2016

An expert witness has been reassigned to a new role until investigations shed new light on her credentials. Dr. Fessessework Guale has been a forensic analyst for the Institute of Forensic Sciences since 200. She has testified in nearly ten years’ worth of DWI cases, but now the District Attorney’s Office is asking defense lawyers to review cases involving Dr. Guale. Dr. Guale’s credentials came into question after the Harris County District Attorney’s Office received word that she did not have a Masters in Toxicology from Oklahoma State University. They learned she instead had a Masters in Physiological Sciences from a veterinary school. Managing attorney at Tyler Flood & Associates, Inc., Tyler Flood, has stated that up to 60 of his own cases have been affected by this new information. He goes on to say that “She has achieved a position in the lab, certifications based on falsely representing her education. And she’s pulled the wool over a lot of people’s eyes.” Flood continues saying “I don’t think that when the judges who have said she’s allowed to testify about this will be concerned.” The District Attorney’s Office is taking this debacle incredibly seriously. They’ve asked for her transcripts and are launching an investigation on the cases involved.
